Yes, this is still a thing. But the final lines are pretty much complete!
It's taking longer than expected due to inexperience and car trouble. But I'm going to add a separate layer for the bow, get it colored, shaded, then add some audio very soon!

I'm just trying to make 4 seconds of traditional frame-by-frame at 24fps. It's my first time and it's time consuming and my schedule restricts me to mostly animating at night. But it's coming along, and with Toon Boom Animate Pro I'm not at war with the software like with Adobe Flash or Anime Studio. It gives you more control to draw what you wanted.
Anyways, here's a screenshot of the onionskins :D4595397_140593449552_ledrawingonionskin.png

But it's necessary!
Frankly practice makes everything better and that's exactly what this is.
Practice, practice, practice.

I've gotten an idea of color scheming now and I believe I'm improving on character drawing itself. I have to take more classes next semester on drawing for figure poses, so that should be fun.

By the way, I earned an A in art class and an A in animation class!

I've been wondering. Some animators here and elsewhere (myself included) simply are not musicians. And some of us will use liscensed songs in our animations.
And of course, as always, we give credit where it is due. Its the moral thing to do to let others know a particular part of the work is not your work but anothers...
Do you consider it sort of like "cheating" when you use liscensed music to add to your animation?
Or is it relative, meaning theres a difference between putting it in because it "sounds cool" and putting it in because you feel you have the right idea in your head to do the track justice.
Opinions would be nice! :D

I am in the home stretch for school. Been the biggest reason I couldn't do any animations.
After that, time to crack down again.
I'm creating a short string of comics to act as a precursor to "Coarse Purity". I'm most likely going to change the title.

But the plan is to resume "Coarse Purity" and film my live action short film during the summer.

I've had time to think about that "Overseer" story. And it has drastically changed since I made the prolouge for the better.

More later!

I found it fun to go to the under judgement list and just give each of the 5 movies I watched a review.
A review goes a long way for the average user. Show some support for everyone! :D

Just reminding this site that I do still exist :)
I'm working on different things besides animations now, like hand drawn comics and live-action short stories.
Of course, I'm still here and looking at all of your great work. Keep it up, Newgrounds :D

  • After some deliberation, I managed to compress the file size thanks to a couple of very helpful tips from very helpful users on this site. I shall post the video here now!
  • In other news, I have finally found a solid new story for the next chapter in the series, and am working on the preliminary stages of animating as we speak! However, contrary to my previous comments, it will no longer star the current main character (now known as Pedro), or his family.
  • The new main character will be a female named Ekatarina (nickname Kata), and will tell of an event that happened when she was a child 10 years before the events of The Overseer, and show her interactions with familiar faces as a young adult 1 year AFTER the events of the Overseer.
  • Frankly, I can't wait for all of you to see. I will make sure that gets uploaded here. Adios! :D4595397_138912861361_SnapShot1.jpg

The difference that a single video editor can make. This an an example of the type of visual improvements I am making to "The Overseer" (frame was taken 2 weeks ago, and will likely change for the final release). Audio-wise, improvements to increase ones immersion were likewise implemented to results that are, in my opinion, FAR superior to the old sounds. Of course, what will really matter is how much YOU like it :)4595397_138787437891_Improvement.png

An old friend of mine lives in Arizona, yes? Well, she wants to use my "Overseer" project as an animation piece for a film festival that she runs in her local cafe. As she puts it: "I love animation, and its free recognition!" With this oppurtunity, and using my new editing software and my animation experiences, I decided to simply enhance and re-edit the whole series. New improvements will include:

  1. -Re-editing of the chronology of the first 3 episodes
  2. -Improved picture quality
  3. -Completely reworked/improved audio
  4. -Lens effects such as ice frost and lens flare
  5. -Weak scenes are scrapped, replaced with improved scenes or a new scene altogether (example, when 3 enemies are introduced, the "Irishman" will not be pulling on the cart, but will instead simply get drunk off scotch)
  6. -If I can learn how to use adobe aftereffects, I also plan to utilize the concept of frost breath. But that is no guarantee : /

Anyway, that is my new commitment. I'm pretty excited :D
