I loved it. Heartfelt, meaningful, and expressive. My only gripes would by that some of the 3D art, particularly the ships, stood as stylistically different from the rest of the imagery and slightly took me out of the film just a tad.

That’s my only gripe though. The setup and payoff are excellently handled. And the animation itself is excellent, particularly through your 3D/2D blend. Hats off to you!

Anton51 responds:

What an interesting response! I will take note of it when I approach my 2D and 3D hybrid aesthetic. I am little new when designing space ships for my world heh. Thank you so much and glad you like it!

I must admit the lack of sound threw me off, but no big.
The animation and anatomy are fluid and comprehensible and the expressions are well drawn, the facial work really adds to the body language. The line-work seems a tad rough. And the frame rate you drew doesn't allow for a fluid stop to the motions. But overall, it's quite good.

Next time I'd advise another pass at the line work. Again, quite good for a first attempt!

Thanks a lot, this is the first good criticism I received in a while. It pumps me up to do more!

Jokes are refreshingly politically incorrect in the bounds of good taste. You definitely caught me off guard in each scenario add-on and made me chuckle. We need more content like this.

Animation style is appropriately simple.

Overall, nice work pal.

insanetoons responds:

Thank you, nice to hear :)

Alrighty: few thoughts.
You most certainly have a particular style when it comes to feeling. The hopeful yet nihilistic feel of the sound design and color palette worked. And I could certainly see the pain in your main characters face as it became clearer what exactly was going down.

A few areas you can improve: for one the voice acting was rather off-putting. I can tell ti was no focal point of yours.

The facial expressions certainly worked, but one problem I felt was that her expression always seemed wide-eyed, even when things were picking up. There was no low point to make her enraged face seem anything other than normal.

And I personally found the cinematography lacked a certain flare. As in the angles and images were never really anything to write home about. The frames did little to paint a deeper picture. I found the colors sorta bland at times as well.

Overall, not bad.

lpart responds:

I appreciate the feedback! More on its way and i'm taking all critiquing into consideration!

Not bad. Given as how I don't go to these things I maybe don't get the joke so much. But animation though reflects the content and the voice work is appropriately corny.

JunkYardAnimations responds:

I respect and appreciate the honest review. and haha ya, maybe I helped give a feel for how these dispensaries are :'D

For an animation made on your phone, I give you props. That said, for such simplistic visuals its usually beneficial to have more exaggerated movements and motions. It felt slow and stiff.

My own little 2 cents also is if you wanna cut away to do text cards, have the text be a little more old school or cartoony instead of straightforward. Same as the movement: more exaggerated and fun.

MisterWoolley responds:

Thank you and Thank you for your advice. :)
My phone is my only method of animating and I can't wait to try actual characters with color.

Upside down, mate.
Takes unique dedication to do this style of animation though. Props to you.

RedPaladinOfficial responds:

Thx, yah, I don’t know why it was upside down, but other animations will be on a computer. ;)

The scenario is simple and to the point. The lackluster voice acting could use work (yes, even grunts need paying attention to). The animation quality is quite inconsistent, alternating from choppy to fluid. The art style is consistent, so that’s a plus. I recommend you make more animations in order to improve your fluidity.
Not bad though. Entertaining.

SuperLME responds:

Thanks. This is the first time I've worked at 24 fps. I usually work with 12-15 fps. In the future, I'll work to keep things more fluid. I want to tell a story someday, but I don't have any scripts. Thank you for the constructive criticism.

I'll give you my 2 cents:
Animation: it appears more like a slideshow than it appears as an animation. In other words, the animation itself was incredibly limited until the end moreso. Even then, the line work was still kind of rough and the animation, while having a few more frames, was still lacking. I'll check out the future episodes to see if you improve upon future works.
And the voice acting wasn't anything amazing and the hardware you used to record it was sub-par and sounded rather cheap. And the voice acting, while kind of bland, was strangely charming in some places. But I recommend the voice actors work on their craft a bit and add a bit of personality to it.

I don't write these things for a personal attack against your work. It's so you might improve in the future. It at least held my attention until the end. Keep at it, and good luck!

bewear responds:

This is all completely true! I agree that its super slideshow-y and not very animated until certain parts, and even when it's in "animation mode" like at the end, it's not even completed or colored. I DEFINITELY did not try that hard on it, considering it was made in like 3 days, and i specifically gave the bear VA to not try that hard so I can see all your points! Thank you for input! :D I barely get any in my actual comments lol, I'll definitely try more in the future episode considering i'm not on a week schedule anymore, and especially for my future projects for fanime and stuff, i'll actually take my time and maybe you a more smoother brush for outlines haha. but yeah thank you for your comment!

Expression is a good word to describe this animation. With no dialogue you definitely managed to evoke personality out of your characters and the emotion of the simple act of giving. I was moved.

Animation wise, relatively smooth, fluid, and bouncy. There were only a couple of parts, such as the overhead show showing the characters full body as he walked, slightly awkward. But it did not detract from the overall package.

All in all, good work!

afrotique responds:

appreciate it man!
