Absence, Plans for Return

Posted by aggimajera - June 7th, 2018

My time in the Marine Corps is well over half complete and it has been one hectic thing after another the more leadership I take on. No big though, it’s what I do.

(Me with my pal Jon, Republic of Korea Marine Corps., me on right)

But it’s getting to the point I must think about the next step.

I fully intend for the next step to be in animation. For reasons my own, I’m not giving up on this venture.

As for projects, I have one major video in the pipeline. Applying all I know in animation, emotion, and utilizing concepts I have learned after years in the infantry, it will be the most difficult project I’ve ever undertaken in art. I will be hiring a crew to work with me. And if all goes well, it will pay off.

All I can divulge at the moment is that it will be a single self-containing story that puts a bow on my series Overseer. After years, I’ve finally figured out how to end it.

Hope to have more information soon.

Again, apologies for my absence.

You take care now.

Over half of your service has been completed? Damn, does time fly! (at least for me it does)
Hm, you say you've taken more leadership. Does that mean you've risen in rank?

About the picture: first time I've seen an assault rifle with a bipod. Surprised to see that. Though Jon should exercise a bit more thorough trigger discipline in my humble opinion. Judging from the shadow to the far right, which I do not know is a person or not, and the USMC weapon safety protocol number 3: Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you're ready to fire. Are these two things moot because of (what I assume to be) the stopper in the muzzle?

[reads how you will use every physical and mental assets you have to create your next animation] ---> *excitement increases* [reads "single self-containing story that puts a bow on my series OVERSEER"?!] That's freaking terrific! This crew you speak of, what kind of expertise do you want and/or need? In any case, good luck my friend, both in the last half of your service, and with the Overseer's bow! :)

I have taken on more leadership. I'm currently an infantry squad leader. But thats a billet. The rank I hold is a Lance Corporal. A Squad leader is meant for a Sergeant.

Where did you learn that safety rule? That's exactly rule #3 and I'm curious. And as for Jon's trigger discipline (which was a great observation), you're not incorrect. However, for the picture the magazine was empty and all rounds fired that day were blanks anyway. I wish he had not put his finger around the trigger but he was excited. That thing at the end of the barrel is called a Blank Fire Adapter (meant to protect people we point weapons at from unwanted projectiles). Yes, essentially a stopper.

And yeah, for my new video it will apply a lot of things I've learned both in the USMC and in life in general. I've grown a lot in the past couple years and see many, many things differently than before. One of those is my approach to problems and challenges.

The crew I'm going to gather will be co-writers, in-between animators, background artists, voices actors and actresses, and a composer (to music will be user made, I no longer want to use any licensed tunes) to compose a main theme and score. I intend to save a lot of cash to compensate all involved. My goal is for this new video to make it into film festivals and get all involved some serious credibility, including myself.

I'll tell more as it progresses. Can't wait to get the ball rolling!

@JamesHatfeld @aggimajera Ah. Congratulations? If you accepted the responsibility voluntarily, then consider me impressed my your leadership skills!

Heh, I learnt that safety rule from Wikipedia ;P
Searched "trigger discipline" (wondered about what I've now learned from you is a blank fire adapter), and came across the 4 essential rules of weapons safety for a lot of armed forces, including USMC. Just thought I'd copy it word for word since it's familiar and relevant to you, to arouse your curiosity, and to just make you go "Huh."
Good to hear all possible precautions were taken that day.
Jon was excited, you say? Gung-ho?

Good to hear you've matured mentally (and physically as well) in your time serving your country. Hm. I suppose the time out there changes one's view on a great many things. Are we talking socio-political, socio-economic, mass psychology, what? :)

Wow, that's quite a project indeed! I don't think I could contribute much in the manner of writing when it comes to anything Overseer-related you plan, both since I have no personal experience with guns or any armed forces, and because I mainly write fantasy (Elder Scrolls) fanfic. But if you'd like my input on anything, don't hesitate to ask when the time comes, amigo! In any case, I cross my fingers for your video, your service, and your life, and I can't wait to get the next update!

Be safe out there.
